Embracing Minimalism in your Wardrobe
Posted on November 18 2019
Minimalism is a huge buzzword right now and for all the right reasons. Life is hectic, and we are on the search for a simpler way to live, one that is characterised by less not more. Minimalism doesn't have to spell 'plain and boring' though, it can spell 'smart'!
I'm sure there have been times when you've looked at your wardrobe and decided you needed a clean out. Today we want to give you some tips on how to embrace minimalism in the fashion area of your world! It's the perfect time to re-assess as we head into the new year.
Jewellery
Do you find yourself wasting time searching through your jewellery stash for the right piece? It might be that you need to cull the pieces that don't light you up anymore. Maybe you've gotten rid of certain pieces of clothing that matches certain pieces of jewellery but are no longer needed. Taking the time to clean out your jewellery is a great place to start in having simpler mornings! It will also help you to identify what you might need to keep an eye out for when you are out and about shopping.

Wardrobe basics
Having a set of linen basics that you can use at any point can be a great way to embrace minimalism in your wardrobe. The only other decisions you have to make then are what jackets or scarves you need to wear for the occasion, how you will colour your basics up, and what accessories you will wear. Having good quality basics in timeless neutral colours such as a white shirt, a fitted pair of black leather trousers and staple ankle boots that you can easily combine with other pieces to create effortless outfits.

Choose a colour palette for the year
Instead of having a wardrobe full of all the colours in the rainbow, why not decide to wear just a few colours that align with the trending colours of the season and few different colour combinations! You don't have to necessarily give clothes away, it might just be that you need to put some items away for the season so you aren't wasting time trying to find the things you need in amongst everything. By sticking to a set of colours, you can focus on getting your look right each time!

The art of layering
Layering is a simplistic way to dress especially when seasons are overlapping. But layering doesn't always have to mean layers and layers of clothing, it can also mean the layering of different fabrics, which is essential if dressing in an entirely monochrome outfit! You might consider adding in some leather, combining hard and soft fabrics and adding in other textures. You can also add volume to your outfits with puffy sleeves or jackets, or even tuck in one side of your shirt and leave the other side out for something different.
So whatever the state of your wardrobe, consider making 2020 the year you get smarter about your fashion and embrace minimalism!
