Transitioning from Summer to Fall Fashion
Posted on May 06 2019
Seasons change every three months and it can be challenging to know how to transition our wardrobes. The trees turn deep shades of oranges and reds, the mornings are cool but the days are still hanging onto the last rays of summer. There are some smart ways to transition a wardrobe between seasons ensuring you really don't have to spend up big, you just have to know how to choose the right items and then make the most of what you have.
- Keep your maxi dresses
Before you relegate your dresses to the back of your wardrobe think again! It’s all about what you pair them with that makes all the difference, refresh your look by adding a blazer, a chunky knit sweater, leggings, boots or a jacket. The key is to layer it up and the define your waist to offer added structure.
- Add tights
This is one of the simplest yet most inexpensive ways to keep using your summer dresses through the autumn months. Look for opaque tights as the days can still be warmer, but they will keep you cosy when it comes to going out at night. You can even try patterned tights for a bit of fun. If tights aren’t your thing why not try leggings or jeggings, they look like pants but have way more stretch.
- Layer up
As you layer up your summer clothes, you create new looks that will also keep you warm in a brisk breeze. So how do you know what looks are good to layer up? Try the Long layer over lean rule. This means matching a larger length top over leaner bottoms such as tights or skinny jeans. This helps to avoid the bulkiness that sometimes can be a result of overenthusiastic layering.
Our Linen Double Layers Tunic is a silhouette that is stylish and relaxed in signature linen featuring a double long short contrast layer on bracelet length sleeves and hemline. Complete the look by matching colored Double Layer Pants or Straight Leg Pants.

- Invest in a Statement Jacket
This is where you can splurge a bit, find something that really stretches your normal wardrobe for max impact. Make sure you can see yourself wearing it with multiple outfits to really stretch your dollar. Consider maybe a leather Moto styling Jacket over the top of your favorite summer dress, skirt or pants. Don't be afraid to mix textures either. It's one of the ways you can create an out of the box outfit.

- Add Deeper colors
One of the things that I love about this season is the warm colors that come with the change of leaves. Pastels and neon’s of summer make way for rich jewels and earthy tones. Add a warm tones scarf to a black dress or pair your favorite white dress with a heavy knit cardigan. Add deeper colored boots over black and help add depth to an outfit.
It would be really easy to think that you need to spend big to keep up with the seasons changing trends, but you really only need to have a few things up your sleeve in order to transition into any new season, 'on trend'.
