Latest Spring and Summer Fashion
Posted on July 30 2018
Spring for those in the Southern Hemisphere is not too far away. New spring and summer styles are starting to hit the stores. While many of those in Northern parts are sweltering through a heat wave! Here are some of the fashion trends hitting our streets this year. Keep in mind your own personal style and you may be able to find a few fabulous ideas to add to your wardrobe.
Shine
Bling is still very much in fashion. Whether it’s in the form of shiny, metallic material, sequins, crystals or glitter. Tone it down with a plain top or jeans, or add a statement accessory to add zing to your outfit. Almost any style can cope with a little shine.
Pastel
Pastels and dusty tones will be everywhere, in shades of lilac, pink, lemon and duck egg blue. Even if wearing girly styles is not your thing, a top, jacket or bag in a colour you like could still work well underneath a pair of overalls, or a denim jacket. Otherwise pair a pastel jacket with a classic or bohemian dress or dress. Either way these colours could still work for you.
Check
Not just a winter staple, checks are making their way into spring and summer fashion. In the form of gingham’s and the bolder more traditional designs. Wear them as a dress, shirt, hats and even stockings.
Fringing
These are not boho trims, more like statement fringing across necklines, hemlines, bags - you name it. They have been given a sophisticated, empowered appeal.
Black and White Polka Dots
Floral might be your go-to spring print, but polka dots will be a close second, especially in black and white. So easy to add to your wardrobe in a dress, shirt, bag or pair of shoes.
Bold Colour
Vibrant bold shades in primary colours to suit every colouring. Tomato red, cobalt, emerald green and bright yellow. Worn from head to toe or monochromatically. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with adding only a pop of colour if you would prefer not to stand out too much.
Asymmetrical
In necklines and hemlines, adding edge to any garment. Flattering and visually appealing the asymmetry can be worn in dresses, skirts, tops and jackets.
These are just some of the trends that you will be sure to see this spring and summer. Have fun creating your look and seeing what fits with your own personal style from those that you like the best.
