New year New Wardrobe!
Posted on December 31 2018
We have all been there standing with the closet door open trying to spot that favourite top, or rummaging through the drawers to find your favourite pair of jeans only to grab for the closest thing on the chair. Why not make part of your new year's resolutions a de-cluttered wardrobe! It's easier than you think and best of all you will have room for those boxing days sales additions.
Here are 5 steps to get you from organised chaos to master of the closets in no time.
STEP 1 - SORTING
Create 4 piles starting form one end of your closet to the other.
- YES - These are clothes that you absolutely love, wear, and want to keep.
- NO - These are clothes you no longer love or wear, sort into two piles: one for charity and one for rags.
- PROJECTS - These are ones that need mending or tailoring or you just need to find its perfect partner.
- MAYBE - Try and not have much in this pile. The idea is to clean out so you can buy fresh season items.
STEP 2 - CLEAN UP
Separate any items that are off season (like winter clothes in summer) and place them in garment bags to be stored away. Make sure they are washed or dry cleaned so that when you pull them out next winter they will be fresh and ready to wear.
STEP 3- REPAIR
Put time aside to replace that button or split seam. Whether you a master on the sewing machine or you need to send it off to get alterations it may be cheaper to repair then replace.
STEP 4 - GET INSPIRED
This is the best part of any de-clutter, filling the space with new items :) Take to Pinterest and Instagram for some inspiration before you hit the shops. Read through fashion blogs for what's on trend. The sky's the limit so let your imagination run wild.
STEP 5 - MAKE A WISH LIST
Now that you are all inspired and ready to hit the shops just hold that thought. Put together a wish list so that you know what you need so you are more likely to make good purchases that will last.
It's a new year, so give your wardrobe some love! At Ann G linen we have a wide range of colours and styles in natural comfortable premium linen. Keeping you cool and fashion forward this summer.
Happy new year!
