Using Accessories to colour up an outfit
Posted on November 12 2018
Accessorising an outfit is like putting decorations on a cake! The icing is your outfit and the decorating is the fun part! The accessories you choose are as individual as you are. Here are a few tips to help you decide how to decorate your outfit:
Jewellery Isn’t The Only Accessory
Jewellery is a fun and easy place to start and doesn’t need to be over the top or too expensive. Choose a colour within your outfit to match with or stay with the tone of metal you like, gold, silver, rose gold etc. But don’t forget scarves, bags, hats, sunglasses and of course, shoes. Gone are the days of matching your shoes and your handbag, so don’t be afraid to experiment with colour. It is not unusual to see someone wearing a black outfit with neutral coloured shoes and a colourful handbag anymore.
The Same Outfit Casual Or Dressy
Take the same outfit from day to night with a quick change of accessories. Jeans and a T-shirt can easily be worn with flat shoes, a light scarf, casual jewellery and a backpack. Then changed for a pair of striking heels, dressy jewellery and a classy handbag for an evening look. Wearing monochrome is an uncomplicated way to change an outfit from day to night and can be done in a variety of ways. Simple black and white is so easy to wear!
Weather and Event
Keep in mind the type of event you may be attending and the weather when you are there. If it is likely to be unpredictable weather, a jacket is a perfect accessory to take along. Dress down an outfit with a denim jacket, dress up an outfit with a leather one. Consider one of our linen jackets as a versatile accessory. A cropped look like the Linen Grandad Fitted Short Blazer for a dressier event or the Linen Adjustable Collar Casual Jacket for a more casual one.
Accessorising an outfit doesn’t need to be difficult or complicated. Start with a few basic pieces that you enjoy wearing whether it is a favourite pair of shoes or a scarf and build on that foundation. Before long you will have an eye for what is needed for any outfit you wear!
